Description ADR 1-Day Refresher Training Course Description This one-day intensive ADR Refresher Course is designed to update the knowledge of drivers who are currently certified to transport dangerous goods by road in packages, Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), and/or loose bulk. The course ensures participants are familiar with the latest regulatory changes, safety procedures, and responsibilities under the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR). Successful completion and passing the mandatory examination allow the driver to renew their existing ADR Training Certificate. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to: Identify and recall the latest updates and amendments to the ADR regulations. Demonstrate an understanding of the classifications of dangerous goods and their associated hazards. Apply correct procedures for documentation, marking, labelling, and placarding for packages, IBCs, and vehicles. Understand and implement appropriate safety measures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency response procedures in the event of an incident or accident. Pass the required refresher examination to ensure the renewal of their ADR Training Certificate. Course Content The course will focus on the core elements of the basic ADR syllabus, highlighting recent changes and key safety areas. Module 1: General Requirements and Responsibilities ADR regulatory structure and recent amendments (last 12 months) Roles and responsibilities of the driver, consignor, and carrier Roles and responsibilities of the driver, consignor, and carrier Training requirements and security provisions Module 2: Dangerous Goods Classification Review of the nine classes of dangerous goods Key properties and principal hazards of each class Packaging Groups (PG I, II, III) Module 3: Operations and Documentation Transport documents (e.g., transport document, written instructions) Vehicle marking, placarding, and orange plate requirements Requirements for packages, IBCs, and loose bulk transport Module 4: Emergency Procedures and Safety Actions to be taken in the event of an accident or incident Equipment requirements for vehicles (e.g., fire extinguishers, PPE) Safe loading, segregation, and handling procedures Who Should Attend This course is mandatory for ADR-certified drivers whose current ADR Training Certificate is due to expire. It is specifically designed for drivers who wish to continue transporting dangerous goods in packages, IBCs, and/or loose bulk. Pre-requisites The participant must have a valid ADR Training Certificate. The current certificate must be valid until after the test date (there is strictly no grace period). The refresher training course can be taken in the last year of the certificate’s validity. Course Assessment The exam comprises 36 multiple-choice questions. The questions are divided into three sections of 12 questions each. To achieve a pass, the driver must correctly answer a minimum of 8 questions in each section of 12. Course Certification Upon successful completion of the course and passing the mandatory examination, the driver will be awarded a new ADR Training Certificate. The new certificate will be valid for five years, commencing from the expiry date of the old certificate.
